  • Firefighter Part-Time City of Pittston Bureau of Fire

    Job Overview:
    The City of Pittston is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Part-time Fire Fighters in the City of Pittston Bureau of Fire. Hours and shifts vary. Hourly wages are $18.50.

     

    The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to performing firefighting activities including driving apparatus, operating pumps and other equipment, laying hose, performing fire suppression tasks, keeping records, and making reports. Applicants must possess a Firefighter I certification, EMT-B certification, and be able to work well with a team of co-workers.

     

    Requirements:

     

    • Must be 21 years of age at the time of employment.
    • Must have a High School Diploma/GED
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any state, no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past 7 years
    • Must be a US citizen.
    • Must hold a Firefighter I certification
    • Must hold a Hazardous Materials Operations certification
    • Must hold a EMT-B certification.

     

     

    Duties:

    • Perform firefighting activities including driving apparatus, operating pumps and other equipment, laying hose, performing fire suppression tasks, keeping records, and making reports.
    • May perform basic life support, medical activities, and provide other assistance as required.
    • Participate in fire drills and classes in firefighting, emergency medical, and hazardous materials subjects.
    • Receive and relay calls and alarms.
    • Operate radio and various communications equipment.
    • Participate in the inspection of hydrants, and other features of the fire prevention program.
    • Maintain equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
    • Perform minor repair to departmental equipment
    • Assist in developing plans for special assignments such as emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, training programs, firefighting, and emergency care activities.
    • Present programs to the community on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics.
    • Perform salvage operations (i.e. throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and debris removal.).
    • Perform general maintenance in the upkeep of facilities and equipment, care for grounds, make minor repairs, wash, clean, polish, and test equipment before and after use.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Police Officer Part-Time City of Pittston Police Department

    Job Overview:
    The City of Pittston is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Part-time Police Officers in the City of Pittston Police Department. Hours and shifts vary. Hourly wages are $26.50, equipment allowance, eligible for Holiday overtime.

     

    The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to ensuring the safety of the public through enforcing the Federal, Commonwealth, and Local laws and ordinance and protecting the lives and property of people within the City of Pittston. Applicants must possess a current PA Act 120 Certification.

     

    Requirements:

     

    • 18 years of age
    • US Citizen
    • Able to read, write, and speak the English Language
    • Be a high school graduate/ GED
    • Possess a current PA Act 120 Certification
    • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Driver’s License
    • Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer
    • Must be of good moral caliber
    • Subject to a thorough background investigation

     

    Duties:

    • Enforce the laws Federal, Commonwealth, and Local criminal laws and ordinances
    • Protect the lives and property of people within the jurisdiction of the City of Pittston
    • Patrol assigned areas within the City of Pittston
    • Respond to calls of service
    • Serve paperwork both Civil and Criminal
    • Provide First Aid/CPR
    • Provide Traffic Control
    • Testify in judicial proceedings
    • Complete assigned reports and tasks
    • Perform other related police duties
    • Maintain a high level of discretion in regard to sensitive department materials and information
