The hearing for the CARES Act Community Development Block Grant (CV-CDBG) Program will provide an opportunity to citizens to comment on the proposed modification to the CDBG CV activities. The Coronavirus Aid, relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), provides additional CDBG funds to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic. With the availability of food donations from multiple sources and an immediate need for food storage, the City will use the CDBG-CV funds ($20,000) previously allocated for a food donation to Meals on Wheels, and some funding from Foreclosure Prevention ($3,532) to provide funding for a walk-in freezer with installation costs so that Meals on Wheels can safely store food supplies to respond to the pandemic. The modified funding now includes $23,532 to Meals on Wheels instead of the previous $20,000. A copy of the modification is available for public review and comment from May 10, 2021 through May 18, 2021 on the City’s website: https://www.pittstoncity.org/
Written comments on the proposed modification of the use of CDBG-CV funds will be accepted by the Pittston Redevelopment Authority until 4 p.m. on May 18, 2021 and may be addressed to: Redevelopment Authority at the above address or email jchacke@pittstonrda.com City Council will consider approval of the application at the regular Council meeting on May 19, 2021.
